At Fresh Pond Capital, we work with clients to bring one's investments into alignment with one's values. 

Our investment approach is founded in sound financial judgment and in core ethical values.  This approach has been the basis for the Socially Responsible Investment movement, begun in the 1970s and carried forward today. 

We believe that you can reach your financial goals while having a positive impact on society.  And, as important, we believe that you can use your resources to create needed social change.  We work with clients to accomplish these two fundamental goals.

How do we do it?

 

We work with individuals and families.  Every client works one-on-one with a portfolio manager who understands the client’s long-term objectives and knows the details of the client’s current financial picture.

 

We tailor individual portfolios to meet the specific needs of each client.  Just as the personal relationship is fundamental to our service, we believe that each client should hold a portfolio of securities that are not pooled with other clients’ assets.

 

We screen all of our portfolios with the core progressive values that the Socially Responsible Investment movement embodies.  In addition, we listen to each client’s particular social concerns and priorities when constructing an investment portfolio.

 

We believe in the power of voting shareholder proxies on corporate issues and the power of building coalitions to strengthen our voice for change.  This concept of uniting shareholders with other shareholders who believe in change has been critical to the successes of the Socially Responsible Investment movement and we continue this strategy in our work.

 

We understand that access to capital equals power.  Therefore, to shift the current power structures in our society, we encourage clients to consider including investments in community loan funds in their portfolios.  We work with each interested client to identify funds that are engaged in meaningful work that connects with that client's social priorities.  And we structure investments to meet each client’s individual risk parameters.
