At Fresh Pond Capital, we work with you to build a financial plan that answers the questions that extend beyond your quarterly statement. While investment advice covers the process of building a portfolio of investment assets, financial planning determines the role that portfolio plays in your life. We act as an independent voice to guide you through financial challenges and opportunities as they emerge. We work closely with your other advisors – including accountants, estate lawyers, additional investment managers, and, where appropriate, family members – to develop a cohesive plan that you direct. Through detailed review and analysis of your whole financial picture, we work to empower you to make informed financial decisions. As life brings its inevitable and often unexpected challenges, we are here to offer consultation. We help with common questions on college savings and retirement – but also consider the larger questions of asset transfer, charitable goals and personal legacy. A good plan allows you to follow your passions with a clear sense of how much risk you can afford. We believe that peace of mind comes with sure financial footing and with the knowledge that the path you are traveling will lead you to your financial and personal goals.
Inherited WealthInherited wealth brings specific issues and challenges to individuals and families. We work with clients to address these issues actively. Whether held in trust with set limitations or given with strong messages, inherited wealth comes with a history. We respect each client’s journey to make their assets their own and work to empower clients to write the next chapter.
WomeN & MONEYWomen and men, typically, approach money differently. They think about it differently, give it away differently, and prioritize it differently. We recognize these differences and work with our women clients to find their voice. We offer experience and expertise in dealing with a wide range of family situations. Our work can include financial literacy, philanthropic planning, structuring gifts to family and/or friends and other independent projects. When our society pays a woman 74.4 cents for every dollar it pays a man (2004 U.S. Census Bureau), it not only sends a strong financial message to women and men regarding the value of a woman’s contribution, but it also creates assumptions about who should direct our resources. Despite this inequity, women now control more than 51% of the personal wealth in the United States (Federal Reserve Board survey). We work with our women clients to emphasize new messages of independence and choice. We believe that when women are empowered to make their own decisions, their choices strengthen families and, ultimately, make our communities healthier as a whole. This work sets an important foundation for meaningful, social change and for building stronger future generations. |
